The Arts Organisation: Theatr Iolo
Theatr Iolo has been at the forefront of theatre for children for over 30 years. The charity delivers performances and workshops to babies, children, teenagers and parents across Wales, the UK and internationally. It is passionate about enriching the lives of children through memorable experiences that challenge the mind and stir the imagination.

The Challenge

Theatr Iolo sought to strengthen its expertise in the Welsh language at Board level by recruiting a trustee who is a first-language speaker.

Angharad sought to gain a new perspective on the creative sector which would complement and benefit her day job at Golly Slater, one of Wales’ leading marketing and communication agencies. As a passionate promoter of Welsh, any organisation Angharad joined needed to be equally committed to promoting the language through its work.

Theatr Iolo proved to be the ideal match for Angharad. Its focus on supporting and performing in Welsh and the opportunity to use expertise in a different sector suited her perfectly. Reflecting on why she joined the Board, Angharad said Theatr Iolo’s aims really appealed to me – bringing theatre to all children, no matter their background, felt like an inspiring and important project to be involved in.

Since joining the Board in 2019, Angharad has made a substantial contribution to the organisation. She has
